The sorting rules underneath the game
- Sort by colour first, then by fabric and dirt. Colour keeps dye off your whites; fabric and dirt decide the temperature and how rough the machine is allowed to be.
- Anything new and strongly dyed washes alone the first time. Loose dye is at its worst on the first wash and it never asks permission.
- Wool and silk are protein. Enzyme detergents digest protein โ that's the entire point of them โ so they belong nowhere near either.
- Fabric softener is wrong more often than it's right: not on towels, not on activewear, and never on flame-resistant baby sleepwear.
